This book covers the year 1922 to 1939 and shows us the changing relationship between father and daughter. The letters throw new light on character of Indira Gandhi and personality and on how these developed from a very early stage. Letters are conversation on paper but more revealing. Shyness of Indira Gandhi and sense of privacy made her express herself more freely on paper than in person. Therefore her writings, particularly her later ones, are carrying a greater charger of poignancy and revelation.
