This is an account of the two years the authors' spent with the Dolpo-pa, a nomadic people who have made their home in one of the most remote and inhospitable areas of the world. The "hidden" land of Dolpo lies between the high peaks of the Himalaya and the Tibetan plateau Chang Tang. In this unwelcoming landscape the Dolpo-pa have existed for 2000 years, moving with their caravans and yaks between the mountains and the plateaux every summer to graze their livestock and to exchange their grain for Tibetan salt. The authors' recount their adventures with the Dolpo-pa - as they learned the language, travelled the gruelling route through the mountains to Tibet, and developed bonds of friendship with the people. Previous titles by Eric Valli and Diane Summers are "Honey Hunters of Nepal" and "The Nest Gatherers of Tiger Cave".
