This book is a 1st hand account of Major General Brahma Shumsher, who was then the director of hospital management. He had 1st hand access to 1st hand reports of that year. In this book he has given a vivid account of the disaster and the subsequent rescue operations, treatment of the injured, rebuilding, restoration, etc. Also the roles played by the volunteers, the aid received, the list of donors, etc has also been mentioned in the book. Kesar Lall wanted to present the Great Earthquake to the global readers, so he translated the original nepali book Nepalko Mahabhukamp published in 1934.
