Giuseppe De Giosa had been collecting Caucasian carpets for many years, but it was on trip to Tibet in 1991 when his love affair with Tibetan carpets began. Fortunately, De Giosa's wife Shirin shares her husband's passion for the colours, texture and design of Tibetan weavings and the couple now have some 140 carpets in their personal collection. In 'Dream Wavers', leading textile authority Thomas Cole takes the reader through the history of Tibetan weavings and explains the Central Asian weaving influences on this ancient art form. He then provides detailed captions to accompany the more than 60 photographs of carpets from De Giosa's collection. Reflecting the inner warmth of a very soulful people, the weavings presented in this volume represent a cross section of the breadth of design as seen in the mind's eye of the Tibetan weavers.
